Good afternoon from a warm Vienna! Finally I can say that. It seems it’s been an eternal winter here.
Today is a very practical post.
I know a lot of you will probably want to punch me in the face or argue with me till you’re blue in the face, but I will say it again…
Weight loss is a matter of reducing calories. The more calories your body burns, the more weight you lose. Simple as that. Ok, go ahead, rant below in the comments.
But first read about the guy who did the ice cream diet for 30 days. Or the nutritionist who did the Twinkie diet and lost 27 pounds in 2 months.
I’m not saying that you should do these diets to lose weight. The reality is that these two diets I listed above are extreme and will leave you feeling like crap. We don’t believe in these kind of extremes here at The Mannered. But there is truth in these two “experiments”.
And if you want to lose weight, then you need to count your calories.
The good news is that you don’t have to give up your favorite foods! You can continue to enjoy your ice cream, burgers, pizza and whatever is you love eating. You just have to do it in moderation; and the best practice and habit is to… you know I’m going to say it… log your food in your journal/food app.
In addition, for something to help you in establishing your portion control, I’m posting these pictures that I find very helpful in eyeballing the right amounts of food.
Be prepared to be shocked… I sure was.
